Anti-black racism, defined as prejudice, attitudes, beliefs, stereotyping or discrimination that is directed at people of African descent and is rooted in their unique history and experience of enslavement and colonization, has no place at Allied Psychological Services and we denounce it any organizations, institutions or in our society. We stand alongside the statements that were released by the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ontario Psychological Association in denouncing anti-black racism, discrimination and hatred as it impacts the mental health, well being, and quality of life for the African Canadian community.
As a psychological practice we believe that no one should feel excluded from quality psychological care due to constructs such as race, gender, nationality, religious affiliation. Racial and transgenerational trauma have significantly impacted the African-Canadian community and we are committed to providing services that are diverse, inclusive, equitable and trauma informed.
