Pat completed his graduate training in Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary and has been registered for independent practice as a Psychological Associate since 2018.

Pat’s professional background is diverse. Earlier in his career, he worked for more than 20 years as a behaviour therapist, providing intervention and consultation to parents, schools, and organizations. He also spent 15 years at Humber College as an instructor and program coordinator. His subsequent work within Ontario school boards and private practice has included psychological assessment, counselling, consultation, and intervention services. This combination of psychological, behavioural, and educational experience continues to inform his approach to practice.

A significant focus of Pat’s current practice is providing comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents, including students preparing for or attending post-secondary education. He has extensive experience assessing learning disabilities, ADHD and executive functioning, anxiety and depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities, giftedness, and behavioural and emotional difficulties. His experience within Ontario’s education system also informs recommendations related to special education programming, IEPs, IPRCs, academic accommodations, and transitions to college and university.

Pat believes that psychological assessment should extend beyond simply identifying a diagnosis. He seeks to understand the whole person and how cognitive, academic, attentional, behavioural, social-emotional, and developmental factors may interact. When appropriate, he works collaboratively with families, educators, physicians, and other professionals to translate assessment findings into practical and meaningful supports.

In addition to assessment, Pat provides counselling and psychological consultation services to children, adolescents, young adults, and parents, as well as consultation to schools, agencies, and other organizations.

Pat’s approach is warm, practical, collaborative, and straightforward. He strives to create an environment in which children, adolescents, young adults, and parents feel comfortable, respected, and understood. Above all, he aims to help individuals and families better understand their strengths and challenges and identify practical ways forward.

On a personal note, Pat enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to a wide range of music, travelling, and exploring good food. He also enjoys nature and the outdoors, particularly walking and hiking, and has an interest in personal fitness and well-being.
