Charmain McIntosh holds a Doctor of Pyschology in Clinical Psychology from the Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. She is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Charmaine works with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse ethno-racial backgrounds providing individual, couples, and family therapy. 

Charmaine works from a holistic and client-centred approach with a space that is culturally sensitive, encouraging, and supportive. She helps people to feel a sense of belonging, develop the courage to face life’s challenges, create hope, meaning, and purpose, identify strengths, and build resilience on their journey to wellbeing. Charmaine integrates the following theoretical frameworks: Adlerian, Art, Christian Counselling (for those who wish to incorporate their faith), Cognitive Behaviour, Dialectical Behaviour, Family/Marital, Mindfulness, Narrative, Strength-Based, and Trauma Focused. 

Charmaine has experience co-facilitating psychoeducational groups (teen mothers, children impacted by domestic violence, anger management, men who have abused their partners), conducting critical incident stress management (trauma debriefings/defusings), and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Charmaine also has her own private practice where she provides psychotherapy, career/psychological/psychoeducational assessments, coaching, and wellness groups.  

Charmaine is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), American Psychological Association (APA), International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP), and the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA).  Charmaine was a board member of NASAP, past President of the Ontario Society of Adlerian Psychology, and a current board member of the Adler Graduate School in Minnesota.
