Jenn completed her graduate training in 2008, achieving a master’s degree in clinical health psychology, a master’s degree in counselling, and a graduate certificate in addictions. Jenn has been registered for independent practice with the College of Psychologists since 2016. She is authorized in Adult Clinical Psychology.
Jenn’s career as a mental health professional began in 2000, commencing a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Since then, she has remained dedicated to working, learning, and growing as a clinician, educator, and leader in the mental health field. Before registration as a psychologist, she held registration as a Canadian Certified Counsellor and as a Registered Psychotherapist.
She is a client-centered, authentic, and adaptable clinician with evidence-based approaches. Jenn seeks to foster individuals’ growth and success via tailored education and the application of psychological principles and skills. Jenn values interdisciplinary education, collaboration, consultation, and care.
Jenn’s focus in her clinical work is adults with addiction and trauma exposures who are involved in the criminal justice system or are public safety personnel/first responders. She is highly trained and experienced in providing DBT and CPT, among others. She enjoys working with diverse clientele, clinical concerns, and approaches.
Throughout her career, Jenn has worked in corrections, forensic mental health, community mental health, and private practice. She has worked with issues such as chronic pain, illness and injury, depression, anxiety, adjustment, grief/bereavement, behavioral disorders/addiction, adverse childhood experiences, and poverty/homelessness. Jenn also has experience working with indigenous clients, namely, Six Nations of the Grand River, and clients under the auspice of WSIB.
Jenn is also a faculty member at McMaster University, has taught and guest lectured at several other institutions, and has supervised many students in various stages of their journey to becoming a registered mental health professional.
Before registering with the CPBAO, Jenn accumulated nearly eight years of experience working in correctional and forensic psychology (under supervision). This included risk assessment of violent and sexual offenders, assessment of capacity and criminal responsibility, offender admission assessments, mental health and risk assessment of offenders, detainees, segregated inmates, etc. She has also provided individual and group treatment to these populations. Jenn will be seeking additional forensic/correction psychology registration with the CPBAO, with the support of the Allied Psychological Team.
